Lion's Roar Heard Round Rugby World

Philadelphia, PA - May 10, 2019 - For Immediate Release - S7 (Super Sevens Rugby) is pleased to announce that the roster of teams who have registered for the upcoming S7 debut event, The Million Dollar Scrum, now includes the two-time reigning College Div-1A National Champions from  Lindenwood University.

Senior men and women, collegiate men and women, along with youth boys and girls teams have logged on to the S7 web site www.s7rugby.com and followed the official rules of registration for The Million Dollar Scrum. Lindenwood now headlines a field that already includes some of the most successful and recognizable rugby sevens teams and clubs in the United States, if not the world.

The Lindenwood Lions burst on to the college rugby scene in the US in 2011, when the school was among the first to recognize the growing popularity of the sport. The Lions were established as a varsity sport and included scholarship funding for both its men's and women's teams. They were an immediate success. The men's team claimed the D-2 national title in 2012, before moving up to D-1A where they have become a powerhouse and are currently ranked #1 in the USA college polls., after claiming national title in 2017 and 2018.

Now, the Lions have entered the fray for the 150,000 dollar prize in the men's college division at The Million Dollar Scrum. They will be playing under the new rules of The S7 league that will begin play in 2019. Their entry is bound to be an eye opener throughout the rugby world. "We are thrilled to see the Lions have registered for The Million Dollar Scrum," stated Dan Yarusso, VP of Rugby Operations for S7." This is world class team that has burst to the top in short order with    USA Rugby 7s National Championship and a Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship. It would be great to see them add Million Dollar Scrum victory to their trophy case."

Registration remains open for teams in 6 different championship game divisions (including both  men's and women's teams) by going to the S7 web site and following the  guidelines. Voting is currently open, with instructions also on the site. The team or club with the leading vote tally in each category will play on June 22 in Las Vegas for a winner-take-all cash prize.
